I was asked to make a

"My Super Sweet 16" card

for Beth's Birthday.

Super girly, pink and lots of Glitter and Glitz!

I used Tim Holtz dp's,

some mirror card that I distressed with a nail file,

Pink Glitter card for large flower with Basic Grey brad.

Hand drawn S's back to back with loads of tiny doodled circles,

Sticky gems around edge.

Handwritten doodles,sentiment and alphas using Sakura.

Valentines gift for a child? Crafty Creations

I have created a little box picture

using a lovely ladybug image

from Digital Delights, this weeks sponsor

at Crafty Creations!

The challenge was to create a Valentine gift

suitable for a child.

I have re-used a little wooden tray that had

die-cut wooden embellishments in it.

I lined it with paper off cuts and then

added some stickles round the edge of the box.

This is really a shout out to the fabulous

I can't really express how thrilled I feel

when I see one of my images brought to life as it were.

Too often last year it seemed to pass me by.

However in those New Year resolutions

was one to say a huge thanks to those

Friends of ours had a baby last week.

This is Hope's thank you design card

for her Christmas pressies this year.

It features her(4 1/2) and Caleb (almost 7) and Jacob (9).

Two houses (the one on the right is for a gnome I'm told),

A family of bees, a spider, butterfly

and my personal favourite - those fab clouds!

She loves to draw and the only help she needed

was I wrote Thank You for her to copy

on her picture. She can already spell

her brothers names.

Not much work going on but

plenty of cuddles.

They particularily like beetroot leaves,

red pepper, brocolli, celery, grass

and dandelions of course (in moderation)

I did try having them free range in the studio

but it just wasn't safe for them. The pen opens out to give

them more space inside and the pen will go out

in the garden in summer so they can cut the grass.....lol

to come keep me company in the studio.

They are so adorable and the kids are

so much I have made two special

Christmas cards!

Polka Doodles....Pretty Tuff.....Address book

I was so busy creating this fun Address book

using the new Polkadoodles Pretty tough cd

that I didn't manage a project

for this weeks challenge.

But It was really lovely to see it on TV

on Wednesday in Dawn Bibby's hands

while Nikki and Tracie did the show

- hope you managed to catch it!

It was Tracie from the DT's TV debut

and she was great!

This cd is brilliant if like

me there are lots of boy's/men to create for!

I used all papers from the cd.

Hand coloured all the b&w stampies

with Promarkers, but they

all come in colour too for a quicky project!

And I used my bind-it-all

that Reubs bought me for my birthday and I do love it.

It was refreshing to have a good long crafty play!

So I started with an image I had coloured

for something else and not used

Two old cards that I had made

for Hope at different occasions

and a box of bits left over from other cards.

I stuck my image over top of the front

of the Sugar Nellie card,

Removed one of the flowers with

fabric brads from the other card

and finnished with some punched leaves

and butterflies.

I paperpieced the image, building up layers

Polkadoodles - time flies - A Magical world.....

Life sometimes just doesn't have that enough of that

added Magical element. At these times its very important

to daydream and should be compulsory I personally feel.

Not too much mind but in moderation daydreaming is a great thing!

Anyway this said my challenge at Polka doodles

this week is "A Magical world" - Magic/Fantasy.

It's stashbox stamps week so I have used

the very lovely Leanne Ellis Time flies stamp

available from Sugar Nellie.

All other elements are Polka doodles.

Papers/sentiment from the new Pretty Sweey cd,

tree and window from A Double sprinkle of Kraft.

Tree is printed on Safmat by Letraset.

The stitching which co-ordinates with

the promarker colours used has been

achieved with a super fine nib

(I love these detachable nibs - brilliant)

Image paperpieced with additional clock

from stamp cut out as embellishments.

All the team have done my challenge proud

and there are LOADS of projects

this week to feast your eyes upon

from lots of new team members!

This had to be a quicky!

As many of you know my smallest child Hope

has been pretty poorly this week.

So for Polka Doodles

this week I have created

an ornamental candle.

This isn't one for burning as I

have used Safmat but I wan't to keep it

so all is well.......

I have coloured this time with Sakura.

We spent a lovely day with

my Mum and Dad Yesterday.

They share a birthday but 2 years apart.

So Mum was 70 this year(Dad's 72)!

We went out for a lovely lunch at

Scotts at Largs Yacht haven,

then they came back to ours and we spent

a lovely afternoon catching up.

My Mum loves Ducks

so I went for this fun image

Yep, we need some new blood to join our lovely talented team on this challenge blog and also to make samples for shows and TV! So, if you LOVE colouring and you're great with your Promarkers, Copics, Prisma's and Watercolours (or any other colouring medium) and it's your speciality then please email us with a link to your blog and NO MORE than 50 words about yourself and why you want to be on the Polkadoodles team. If you don't like colouring then don't worry - we cater for everyone, but you do need to be able to use digital products and rubber stamp. It doesn't matter if you're a cardmaker, scrapbooker, a stamper or a CD crafter, we need someone who can be versatile and fit within the other talents on our fabulous, happy team. We look for all kinds of abilities and styles so you've gotta be in it, to win it, as the saying goes! You MUST have a blog where you post regularly. You MUST be able to commit to participating in the challenge blog 3 times per month, making TV samples when required AND commenting on challenge entries each week, so please ensure you can do all this before you apply - this is a permanent position and you must be able to offer the commitment we need. I came across these quite by accident on ebay

recently and my head was full of possibilities

so I decided to order some to see!

They are sold for nail decorating! Have you seen them before?

They are tiny rods of fimo.

My starter pack above contains glue, razor blades,

2 storage pots and 100 patterned fimo rods

and cost approx £10 inc p&p

I have cut into a few of the rods above - its easy

but I cut them thicker than for nail decorating

so probably get about 40-50 pieces per rod.

They are about 5mm across.

what do you think? I'm thinking a bargain

and what fab embellies - the designes are brilliant

dragonflies, butterflies, flowers, fruit, animals

probably only a few bars I dont see myself using.

A canvas for my studio....

Recently I bought some of the fabulous Octopode images

to make something for myself for a wee change.

Some pictures for my new studio.

I had a wee day in my studio with a friend

creating a canvas each yesterday.

Zoe was making a Home sweet Home picture

for her soon to be decorated hall.

I was playing with lots of things and having fun -

the first picture of many I hope.

The lovely crochet flowers are from

the Kanban Christmas collection.

I bought them at my local Craft shop.

Polka Doodles challenge this week is to create a scene!

I have used all Polka Doodles stamps

to create my little scene.

First glued tissue to my grey board

then gave a rough gesso coat.

Stamped some houses and painted over with gesso

to give a subtle background.

Stamped my scene and coloured with Sakura.

Added some definition to the stamps lines

with a black glaze.

Inked the edges of the cover.

I loved creating this notebook.

It was my very first project on my

Birthday pressie from Reuben

a Bind-it-all!

Can't say I perfected it but am confident next time

it will have holes all the same size

....a bit of a slipping incident!

Hopefully well covered by the lovely fibres.

One of my closest friends asked me to make

a card for her Pastor that is retiring.

I used my Sympathy cross but removed the sentiment.

In infinite wisdom

the Lord surely knew,

that we'd need a Pastor

as faithful as you.

A love of God's word

and a heart for His flock,

you give of yourself

and you stand on the Rock.

I should add that I was given the wording

to add by the friends I made the card for.

triple embossed....I got well inky!

then tripple embossed him too.

Graffiti Mural at Kelburn castle Largs...should it be kept?

I was surprised to see on Yahoo news

photo's of our local castle in Largs

Kelburn Castle!

I think its a shame that alongside the story

the photo is of a barely started mural.

It is amazing!!!!

They were only given permission

to keep the mural for 3 years

but I for one would be sad to see

it removed!

It was created by a group

of Brazillian Graffiti artists

in 2007.

The details are fabulous!

I loved the octopus girl so much

I encorporated her in a mural I

did in Hope's bedroom.

It's just sooooo very clever.

And so well executed.

By talented creative people.

With extraordinary imaginations.

Mum has been giving me a hard time about

lack of studio photo's.

They have mostly not been appearing because

at last I am able to help a bit more.

It's painting time.

Light oak stain to outside.

Angus put up some fab low energy lights.

Inside a combination of white wash and the stain

I love it! So please Angus talked me

into it as I really just wanted in and wasn't going to paint

inside, but it's really looking good.

Polka Doodles - Good Luck

I'm the host at Polka Doodles this week

and my smallest Hope heads off to school nursery next week

so good luck seems apt!

In our part of Scotland the kids head back to school

on Wednesday - the summer holidays have flown by

and so its all change in the routines again.

I love this little Polka doodle girl from

the Magical Winter part 2 cd.

Coloured with Promarkers,

Papers and alphas from the

Double Sprinkle of Kraft cd.

I have added some promarker colouring to the

alphas to make it all gel together.

Lovely Basic Grey fabric brads in the

Polka Doodle flower centres.

All on a Papermania 8"x8" Kraft card blank.

Crafty Creations...sketch and male birthday

Donna has set us a Male Birthday

challenge at Crafty Creations this week.

Along with a fab sketch.

We are being sponsored by Delicious Doodles

and I loved this image of fishing boats

absolutely wonderful!

More digging,chopping,shredding,compacting and some card making!

I promised to keep you informed about the build so here goes....

We all have helped even the kids

although I have to say my brother Angus

has done the majority of the very hard work.

We have pruned trees and chopped a few down that

badly needed removing for safety.

Hired a chipper - that was fun if noisy!

Filled a skip - very easily.....

Dug out loads of soil, layed hardcore and concrete blocks,

hired a compactor (that was also very noisy!)

so it's all very level and well drained.

Now its ready to start the build.....

the kit is due to arrive Friday-

please cross fingers for good weather to continue.

Inbetween I have still been making cards.

I love this Tiddly Inks image - Cast a spell!

coloured with Promarkers,

Basic Grey Kioshi papers,

fabric flowers with fancy brad centres,

flourishes cut on Pazzles and sprayed with Cosmic shimmers

and sakura sentiment doodled.
