Feltmaking....getting back in the swing!

Enjoying my blast from the past!
The first piece of wet feltmaking
I have made in a very long time......

I love working with fibres.
This piece combines Wensleydale, merino and silk softly felted
to create loose pockets within the piece.
I had forgotten how much I love doing this,
but now I'm hooked again.
Just a start on the backing fabric,
will let you see how it progresses.

It looks far better if you click on for a closer look..

Back to my roots...silk paper making and dyeing!

While I was at Woolfest I bought some fabulous fibres
and silk string with the intention
of getting back to my roots.

I loved dyeing and paper making as a textiles student
a very long time ago....hmmmmmm
20 years!

I found a great local supplier for dye
would highly recommend - very helpful.

I have dyed some silk string which its think lends
itself to another alternative to bakers twine?
Have a close up look - very lovely stuff.

I have also had a go at silk paper making
which is far quicker than making
ordinary paper
and I love it!

It's been pretty wet here so have been looking for
different things to do with the kids.

We have had a lot of fun.

These are my attempts
to check I could do it first.

Hopefully will get photo's of their creations tomorrow
to put on their blog!

Crafty Creations.....Free for all

are kindly sponsoring us this
in our Free for all challenge!

I loved making this sweet tag
with their pretty ballerina image.

It's all a bit mad here at the moment as
we are in week 2 of school holidays.
But we are all doing well despite
the truly awful weather!

Kirsty's 40th and gift

A card for my friend Kirsty
who turned 40 on Friday.
We went out for breakfast - yummy!

Again using a feather embellishment.
I love this beautiful image by Leanne Ellis
available from Funky Kits

The background paper I made using waxed paper
sprayed with  cosmic shimmer inks.
It's very glimmery as there is also
mica on the stamped image and the ivy frame.

Her present....hanger bought at a show
Driftwood from a local beach
Hand dyed silk cocoons
wooden heart buttons
and some beads on wire......lots of fun!

I'd like to share my projects this week with
The Stamp Man - Bling it on - my card
The Crafty Pad - It's natural
C.R.A.F.T. - feathers/birds - my card
Sarah Hurley - Dimensions and texture
Creative Belli - anything but a card - hanging
