Thankyou card befor my trip.....

Over at The Crafty Pad this week the challenge is "Something New"

to make their latest card - I sure do......
You could win a guest spot on their DT and a stamp.....
I rather like Shelley the Sheep and twitter!

Anyway I needed to make a thankyou card for my friend Chris.
One of the reasons we don't do holidays is along with 3 children we have 3 Persian cats....
So you can imagine how hairy my house is! Snap, Ellie and Freedom are going to be very well looked after this week by Chris - probably getting far more welcome
attention than they do normally.

For the card I used my newest paper stash from Basic Grey
(half price in a sale aswell - how cool is that)
and this beautiful girl by Mo Manning
that I found while avoiding housework/packing today!
Coloured with my new copics( well had them a couple of weeks now)!

Visit you all when I get back!

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 10 pink and green

The challenge this week is to create a project in lime green and pink at C.R.A.F.T.

I decided to a doodle girl with a Klimt influence. I am a big fan of the work of Gustav Klimt having seen an exhibition of his in Brussels in 1987. My dad was working out there at the time with I.B.M. and it was the first exhibition I remember having a big impact on me - probably
the reason I went into textile design at Art School.

Pay C.R.A.F.T. a visit to see what the rest of the D.T.
have been up to this week. Also just look at what you could win......

we are having a wee change this week with a challenge for a fortnight - give you all a little extra time - aren't we kind.....so this weeks entry is due in by Wed 5th Aug 8.00pm GMT.

We are also looking for new DT members.....join in the fun!

Copic Colour Challenge

The challenge this week at copics colour challenge is to use the colours above....
I used them all and E08 & YG67

I had just bought this fab Mellow paper from Basic Grey and thought it was a great colour match. Doodled a tree with apples to go with the paper design.

Glossy accents on the apples and crackle glaze on the tree
( a treat at my local craft shop yesterday!)

Crafty Creations Challenge - a sketch!

This month I am enjoying a stint as guest DT member for Crafty Creations Challenges.....

The challenge at Crafty Creations this week is a layout.
I am still rather obsessed with my new copics and decided I would like to do something bright and cheerful using that fab bird Basic Grey paper from the Lime Rickey collection.
I used a first layer of printed acetate, with layers of Basic Grey, handmade orange paper and orange craft paper inked with red.

My sun is made from layers of Tim Holtz grungeboard
( half price at Silly Monkey Crafts at the mo) painted with Tim Holtz Crackle paint,
sanded, inked and constructed with eyelets.

Two rows of 3 eyelets with grungeboard layer to centre eyelet.
A few Basic Grey birdies cut from the fab paper.

My doodle of house and trees to co-ordinate coloured with copics.
Handwritten sentiment with Basic Grey rub-on swish....

this week Dt member Jaime is giving the lovely prize - the paper pack she uded in her project.
Pay Jamie's shop a visit.....

Please remember Crafty Creations are looking for a new member for the DT - have a look at the work the other members of the DT produce.....

Polkadoodles - Free Tropical Birdies Challenge

If you haven't visited the Polkadoodles Challenge yet - it's great fun!
And you get freebies - what more could want.....
This weeks challenge combines a sketch (if you wish to)
along with their fab Tropical birdies free download!

When I saw the sketch - it mad me think of trees in a forest.

I would say that I have loosely used the sketch for inspiration and used the fab trotical birdies downloads to creat my trees and clouds. With a few birdies playing in the trees.

The backgrond is from the Once Upon a time range by DCWV. I printed the branches on a photo real autumn leaf picture, the cloud shapes on photo real sky paper and the tree tops on photo real leaf and assorted green papers.

Birdies are printed on Bristol board and coloured with Copics.

Some Sakura doodles to finnish.

As usual with their challenge - I just had a lot of fun!

Also remember Polkadoodles are looking to add to their DT - have a look it's a very tallented team.......

My Orchid - Copic Creations - Botanicals....

Thanks so much Stephanne for giving me the link to Copic Creations Challenge.
Stephanne has beautiful projects - go pay her a visit.
This weeks challenge is "botanicals" and along with all crafts I love orchids.
This is a relatively new love for me - when I moved into our current home(3 1/2 years ago)
I bought one - and they seem to love my house and my lack of care for them.....
So when Stephanne gave me the link and it was botanicals - I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
Also its about time to make that thank you card for Mum and Dad for these wonderful pens.
I know they will have a look - but it will get delivered by hand next week when we meet up with the kids.
I have kept the card very simple as I was pleased with my drawing of the orchid and didn't want to detract from it.
I have used a fab piece of Basic Grey paper from the Euphoria collection - wonderful colour and also alpha letters from the same collection.
Copics used were Y00, YR04, RV000, RV02, RV04, RV34
V04, V95, R29, YG03, YG63 and YG67.
Copic Creations have a fantastic design team , so pay them a visit!
Sponsorship this week comes from Flourishes who produce amazing botanical stamps and the prize is great!

They have a lovely sketch over at Copic Colour Challenge -
pop over and see the fantastic DT cards - just brilliant!
Dream girl is my new doodle of the day and I think is appropriate.
Zuni is working with children who need extra support.......
I used Basic Grey Euphoria papers and card sticker letters and flourish
with a few extra doodled flowers.

Blog Candy.....your very own one of my girls!

Truth be told I have been really struggling this week as to making a decision over who to give the lovely award I received from Saskia ...
It is so hard when really I love all the blogs I pop by and visit and if I had to choose just one- if I am honest it would have been Saskia - which isn't in the spirit of the whole thing - I know!
So a minute ago I decided what to do - blog candy - random generator - so all is fair with the world!
To be entered in for my blog candy please...
1. leave a message here
2. post a link on your blog linking to my candy
3. All followers will get 2 chances
THE PRIZE
For anyone who doesn't know my doodles the girls above are mine.
My prize is to design a girl to your specifications - you give me a theme and I'll give her a likeness. Be it underwater, cats, dogs....just whatever you'd like.
My candy is open until Friday 24th at midnight.
I will send the winner the original drawing as well as a tidy jpeg for them to do as they wish -
so it is theirs alone.......

Polkadoodles Challenge - Buzz off bugs!

The challenge this week at Polkadoodles is to create a Get Well card
with an image of an insect and a ribbon type thing like string, raffia etc.....
I had a lot of fun with this one tonight! Least of all because my Caterpillar was rather mad looking once I had made him!

I have used an embossed card base, think a papermania one.
Flowers are downloads from the Polkadoodles shop.
Flowers were then coloured with copics as were the paper Ric rack stems which were then attached with eyelets and curled.

I added a couple of tiny rub on insects by flowers from Basic Grey - bee and ladybug.
Then using paper fringe coloured with copics I made Cameron Caterpillar - he is very friendly
and I am sure would cheer you up if feeling a bit under the weather!
Also if you should be interested Polkadoodles are looking for a new member for their DT. I recon this would be a fab opportunity for someone - they seem like a great bunch of people! Go have a look and have fun doodling......

I am loving these copics!

Have I told you all how much I am loving these copics?
Still playing - have ordered more suitable card/paper - couldn't get any locally.
Have watched lots of tutorials on You tube - it's so handy........
Do say I quite like a bit of a stripey effect as much as highly blended- just having fun! Am surprised they seem to work okay against digi images (printer ink).

Polkadoodles - Cape Gooseberry......

Okay it seemed like a good idea at the time....truth be known it was a challenge and I am happy with the outcome - just incase anyone doesn't know what I am wittering on about -

Cape Gooseberry

The challenge this week at Polkadoodles is to create a card or something with a fruit theme with a hidden element.

Why a Cape Gooseberry popped into my head I'm really not quite sure, but here goes -
My idea was the hidden element could be inside a box, so thats what I started thinking about a fruit that could encorporate a box.......
I have a pattern for a box on my pazzles - unfortunately I discovered it doesn't seem to work - luckily it cut most of it just had last side to finnish by hand then score it
(score doesn't appear to work on this pattern).I used a 12 x 12 sheet of orange cardstock - after making up box sealed edges with pva and tissue. Leaves were handcut from printed Vellum and inked. Joined leaves together with eyelet and added small eyelet at top of each leaf. Hole in bottom of box and joined box and leaves together with a pipecleaner for stem.
Added card heart to secure box with a gem brad - eyelet in box and lid with pipecleaner catterpiller to secure.......
I bought some great resin beads recently which I have made into necklaces for Hope.
