My model Hope ...... and my latest project

Hope does like to pose for the camera
unlike her Mum!

This is my first attempt at a felted scarf.
Combining wet felting and Needle felting.

I hand dyed the Wensleydale, silk, Bluefaced Leicester
and Alpaca myself.

I really love the colours but need to make a
slightly softer mix....even I admit it's a wee
bit itchy scratchy..... merino or perhaps
more alpaca would be a good combo.

I'd like to share it with

A few cards.... on catch up.

Don't know where my time is
going to at the moment.
So thought I better add some cards
that I have made over the last few weeks
so you know I am still
making cards!

I love Mo Manning babies and this was a double sided one
with a cut out frame so baby can be seen
on the inside too!

A fun card for a lady retiring as a classroom assistant
from a private little boys school!

A 30th Birthday ...I am still loving that Marianne die cut
ivy frame and of course the gorgeous
Leanne Ellis image!

Bus Stop Toy Shop raising money for CHAS

In Duncan's own words:

BIG NEWS: I'm excited to announce that on the 1st to 3rd of August, Ben Miller, Duncan Conner, Sean McFarlane (all United Kingdom) and Christian Olsson (Sweden) will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for Longest Marathon Playing a Boardgame, at Bus Stop Toy Shop, Largs, Scotland. The current World Record stands at a smidgen under 54 hours - jeeps that's a long time - but we're all gunning to go past that mark.

And for my part - Claire that is...........I am off to do a witness shift 7am - 11am this morning at the

Bus Stop Toy Shop

Where they are raising money for CHAS

(Children's Hospice Association Scotland). It costs £7M every year to do the vital work they do - perhaps we can put a tiny dent in that for this year?

Step 2 Felted picture......

Next I trimmed 3 of the felted cloth edges straight
to give me some extra pieces of felt fabric.

I used this to create 3 felt flowers.
Two with stamens in the centres.

Feltmaking....getting back in the swing!

Enjoying my blast from the past!
The first piece of wet feltmaking
I have made in a very long time......

I love working with fibres.
This piece combines Wensleydale, merino and silk softly felted
to create loose pockets within the piece.
I had forgotten how much I love doing this,
but now I'm hooked again.
Just a start on the backing fabric,
will let you see how it progresses.

It looks far better if you click on for a closer look..

Back to my roots...silk paper making and dyeing!

While I was at Woolfest I bought some fabulous fibres
and silk string with the intention
of getting back to my roots.

I loved dyeing and paper making as a textiles student
a very long time ago....hmmmmmm
20 years!

I found a great local supplier for dye
would highly recommend - very helpful.

I have dyed some silk string which its think lends
itself to another alternative to bakers twine?
Have a close up look - very lovely stuff.

I have also had a go at silk paper making
which is far quicker than making
ordinary paper
and I love it!

It's been pretty wet here so have been looking for
different things to do with the kids.

We have had a lot of fun.

These are my attempts
to check I could do it first.

Hopefully will get photo's of their creations tomorrow
to put on their blog!
